Auditions will be held in the theatre lounge on Wednesday March 11th at 7.00pm, on Sunday 15th at 2.30pm, on Wednesday 18th at 7.00pm and if needed Sunday 22nd at 2.30 pm. Playing dates are 7th to 11th July.
In this celebration and satire of love, Rosalind and her cousin Celia escape from the tyrannical Duke Frederick into the Forest of Arden, where they encounter exiled lords, shepherds, and the melancholic Jacques. Here they become embroiled in a complex cross-dressed romance, which ends with a quadruple wedding!
A script can be borrowed from the theatre office prior to the auditions, Monday-Saturday mornings between 9.30 and 12.30.
The cast, which may entail playing some multiple roles, is as follows:
Duke Frederick (50-60) – usurping Duke
Duke Senior (50-60) – the exiled Duke
Rosalind (30-40) – Senior’s daughter
Celia (30-40) – Duke Frederick’s daughter
Orlando (30-40) and Oliver (30-50) – sons of exiled Sir Rowland
Adam (80) and Dennis (30-50) – servants of Oliver
Touchstone (25-50) – courtier of Duke Frederick
Charles (30-50) – a wrestler
Le Beau (25-50) – courtier of Duke Frederick
Jacques (36-60) and Amiens (25-50) – exiled lords
Corin (50-70) and Silvius (20-35) – shepherds
Phoebe (20-30) – a shepherdess
Audrey (20-50) – a goat keeper
William (20-30) – a country lad
Sir Oliver Martext (40-60) – a parish priest
Various lords, servants etc., who can be doubled with other roles. The playing ages are flexible.
