Parsnips Youth Theatre

Parsnips Youth Theatre is a valued and complimentary partner of  Harborough Theatre. Claire Parsons, a trained actor and experienced workshop leader, aims to provide a fun and friendly environment for her young members to learn theatre practice, acting, confidence, team work and social skills.

Parsnips runs after-school classes each week at Harborough Theatre on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays during term time for youngsters between 8 and 18 years old.

The majority of shows we do are original scripts (although we do occasionally tackle the likes of Shakespeare and Moliere) created by the groups in their sessions and scripted by Parsnips Director Claire Parsons. This way each cast see their performance through the conception of the idea, the evolution of the plot, the creation of the characters, the writing of the script to the rehearsal and performance of the show. From the small spark of the idea through to the final curtain falling the cast are intrinsically involved in all aspects of the show and everyone has a part. This is because we believe you learn through doing.

We even have members directing, running the backstage area and some technical elements of the show if that’s an area that interests them.

Parsnips Youth Theatre is open to anyone with any level of experience and is a great opportunity to learn new skills and make new friends.
