Further Success in the All England One Act Play Festival
Further Success at 2018 One Act Festival for ‘Who Calls?’
Congratulations to the drama society youth cast of ‘Who Calls?’, who are now heading for the Semi Final of the All England One Act Play festival, after a further win on 28th April in Central Region quarter finals, after winning awards at both the Warwickshire and Leicestershire rounds of this competition. The adjudicator mentioned commended the acting of all the cast, and also the set and direction. The play won because of the overall production. Previously at the Little Theatre Leicester, they were magnificent – completely ignoring a failed smoke machine and a glitch on the sound system that might well have completely floored far more experienced teams of actors, to produce their best performance yet. Alice Boorman (as Twilley) won the best youth performer award. The play won the best stage presentation award. This takes considered, set, costumes, light and sound. We also won the special adjudicator’s award and the Festival Winner trophy. To put this award into some kind of perspective these youngsters are only the fourth youth team to win the Leicestershire Festival in its 66 year history, and the second from Harborough with After Midnight, Before Dawn which won in 2014. To beat seven very good adult groups (two were exceptionally good) was an amazing performance.
Semi Finals are on 12th May at Worcester.
