News Update – March
Dear Website Visitors and Supporters
Not a lot has happened since we announced our last reopening plans in November. The plan was to re-open at Easter with a mini season to take us through to September when we would (hopefully) get back to something like normal. Barely was the ink dry on the page when Lockdown 2 hit us and, like the two previous re-opening plans, it was consigned to the wastepaper basket. It’s a pity as we’d had a positive response from many of you.
The Trustees met recently and have looked at the recent Roadmap announcement to consider where we go from here and this is our thinking. Looking at the Roadmap, it could be possible that we could reopen in late June, but there are just too many ifs, buts and maybes involved in the many stages of the plan and decided unanimously that the theatre would not reopen until September.
The Drama Committee, headed by Sue Waller, are working on a full season of plays, which will be announced at the member’s Spring General Meeting on Wednesday May 5th. We are hoping to re-launch the theatre with an Open Day in September.
There have been discussions with Octagon Films and they fully agree with the decision not to reopen until September. Our youth section, Parsnips, hope to be back in April. However, we will not be launching our Summer School this August. This will now happen in 2022. Other regular hirers of the theatre or lounge are being contacted with the view to start accepting bookings from September.
Any of you who are members, we confirm that membership fees have been cancelled for the 2020 – 2021 season but will resume from August 2021, providing we can be sure that we will re-start in September.
Season Tickets for 2021-22 will go on sale from August. Look out at the theatre for more details in due course.
And that’s about it for this news update.
Take care and we hope to see you at the theatre as soon as we are able to welcome you.
