A washed up Hollywood star is flown to England to play the title role in King Lear at “Stratford”, believing he will be appearing on stage at the legendary RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon. Instead he finds he has signed on with the Stratford Players, in the Suffolk village of Stratford St John. Who he clearly regards as a “bunch of amateurs”.
They are somewhat of a motley crew, trying to save their ‘Little Theatre’ from developers, and are naturally delighted to have a Hollywood star playing with them. Will he cope with ‘am-dram’? Can they cope with his Hollywood ways? It’s fun finding out.
