A property or ‘prop’ is anything that is used by actors on stage that is not scenery or a costume. This includes everything that an actor will need to hold, pick up, eat, drink, throw, play or interact with in any way. In addition the props team, in liaison with the set designer and director, will select pictures, ornaments, tables, chairs, sideboards and other items to dress the set.
How it works
Getting the props for a show can involve finding, buying, borrowing, hiring and making items. Imagination and ingenuity are often required as the props team can be asked to source the strangest things.
Commitment and reward
If you enjoy tracking down things then you will be in your element in the props team. We are a friendly bunch and you will be able to learn on the job where full support will be given.
