ROH Ballet – Mixed Programme
Mixed Programme (Ballet) – Within the Golden Hour / New Medusa, by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui / Flight Pattern. Starring: Beatriz Stix-Brunell, Natalia Osipova, Kristen McNally. Saturday 18th May, 7.15 pm
Christopher Wheeldon’s Within the Golden Hour, set to a specially written score by Ezio Bosso, has been acclaimed as one of his finest works. It is based around seven couples separating and intermingling, to music by Vivaldi and Bossi and lit with rich colours suggested by sunset.
Crystal Pite’s Flight Pattern is a moving exploration of the refugee crisis, from the plight of millions of displaced people to individual human relationships. Revived for the first time, it uses Górecki’s familiar music and a large dance ensemble for a poignant and passionate reflection on migration.
Between them, a new work, Medusa, created for The Royal Ballet by the acclaimed choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui has its premiere to bring the contemporary themed evening truly up-to-date.
