Parsnips Youth Theatre – Chattoway’s Emporium
Chattoway’s Emporium, by Claire Parsons, 14th – 16th June
Chattoway’s Emporium is a repository of Punishing Puzzles and Elementary Reflection.
Logan, Callie and Beth were not expecting much from their day out when they set off that morning, However, when the three friends stumble upon Chattoway’s Emporium, a shop they had never noticed before, they find themselves thrown into a world that boggles the imagination. You see, Chattoway’s Emporium reveals itself only to those who need it and as the girls sit down to sample one of the shop’s many board games, they find out things about themselves, about their life and about friendship that will stay with them for a lifetime.
Sally and Duffy are thrilled to be offered a position working at Chattoway’s Emporium and arrive ready to start their first day with a spring in their step. However, their joy soon turns to confusion and fear when they discover a girl named Posy trapped in a mirror begging them to join her. Hugo, Mr Chattoway’s assistant, claims she has been put in there for good reason and cannot be trusted but Posy insists that he is the true villain. As Posy and Hugo both tell their tales, the story plays out for all to see. Sally and Duffy have only an hour to decide who is telling the truth, but how do they do that when both accounts are so different?
This colourful, hilarious fast paced and thought provoking new play from the young people at Parsnips Youth Theatre revels in what it is to be young, what it is to make mistakes and how important it is to have friends.
