Open Auditions – Losing the Plot by John Godber
When art teacher Jack Munroe’s life is turned upside down by changes at school, he turns his back on the world. He walks out of his job, his wife Sally, and his two teenage children. In his absence, Sally ploughs on running her flower shop as best she can but, as the weeks turn to months, the debts begin to rise. Something has to be done. When Jack returns home unexpectedly, he discovers Sally has been writing a book…a book about him…a comedy…destined to be a best-seller.
Characters: Jack 40’s/50’s, Sally 40’s/50’s The children never appear.
John Godber wrote “Losing the Plot” in 2013, just after his Hull Truck Theatre days. Like many of his better known plays, it is written for two people, but unlike most of them, the actors only play one role each. Sally and Jack are a middle aged couple trying to come to terms with the changes in their home and work lives.
Playing dates 16th to 20th July. Auditions 18th and 24th March 7.30 pm, at the theatre, either in the studio/lounge or upstairs in the Harlequin Room.
Director: Jan Wilson, who directed The Midsummer Night’s Dream last season. If you are interested in auditioning, please contact Jan for more information on 01858 880636 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Market Harborough Drama Society auditions are open to any one, but if you get involved in a play you will need to become a member of the society.
