Members Club Night. “Getting Physical” with Mark Bodicoat.
Wed 1st Nov 2017
Another of our regular ‘Club Nights’ provides an opportunity for members to socialise, have fun, and develop new skills and ideas.
This will be a fun, participatory, open workshop for all abilities and interests.
Topics: Why warm-up? Engaging the body. Gesture and mime. Physical storytelling.
Good storytellers throw themselves into their tales. Passionate people point and gesticulate.
Stand-up comics bring a funny episode to life using mime and facial expressions.
This ‘stagecraft’ session will focus on bringing more physicality into stage performance.
Actors and directors may be particularly interested, but anyone can have a go!
You could just spectate, but it’s more fun to join in!
The workshop will be facilitated by Mark Bodicoat again, who has directed a number of MHDS productions over the years and ran our previous two in-house ‘stagecraft’ workshops.
Mark has recently spent a month living in his campervan on the south coast while performing in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ as Bottom, and in ‘The Merchant of Venice’ as Shylock.
Refreshments and nibbles will be available and the bar will be open at the end of the evening.
Hope to see you there!
