One of the all-time great classic Victorian Farces, set in Oxford University during
Commemoration Week at a time when a young gentleman and a young lady could only meet in the presence of a chaperone.
Expecting Charley’s Aunt, Donna Lucia D’Alvadorez (from Brazil, where the nuts come from) to visit and act as chaperone, Jack and Charley invite Amy and Kitty for lunch – but Charley’s aunt is delayed.
Their friend Lord Fancourt Babberley is persuaded to impersonate Charley’s Aunt and chaos ensues – before the young lovers are finally brought together in true Victorian fashion.
