Abelard and Heloise
Auditions for Abelard and Heloise ‘ A Correspondence for the Stage in Two Acts’. This beautiful poetic translation of the letters exchanged between Peter Abelard and Heloise Garlande the Famous French 12th Century scholars, living in different monasteries years after they had been forcibly separated because of the prejudices of the day. The letters tell something of their past relationship and all the full gamut of emotions that is in this discourse, as they blow both hot and cold through their letters. Peter Abelard, famous theologian, philosopher, teacher, writer poet, composer. – 40’s Heloise Garlande, a Brilliant scholar of Latin, Greek and Hebrew, not yet a nun. – 30’s The ages do not need to be exact, as long as there is some age difference; though recent research has found that they may have been approximately the same age.
Auditions on 30th November and 5th December at 7.30 pm in the theatre lounge Play dates Sunday 12th February, and Tuesday 14th February
